And on we go...

So things are moving smoothly, except for the disastrous news about the porch...which I'm still trying to come to grips with, so stop talking about it. We had originally thought we had siding under the brick, which could be painted, but it turned out to be sheathing. That wasn't good for the bank account, either. Moving on.

Goodbye, chimney. Hello horizontal cut across the house where it was cut in half to transport out here from the UT campus area...No wonder it leaked in our living room when it rained. From the middle of the room.

Working around to the front, and further evidence that the porch is doomed. :(

Well, hello yard. See, when they put the brick up, they apparently just bricked up the back of a fireplace, rather than put up a chimney or, I don't know, sheetrock? For now, we'll just call this our fire escape.

Yep. That dumpster is a tad too full to haul off. You can see La Bamba, (the '67 Ford), off in the distance, filled with all the stuff that had to come off the porch. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a garage!

And this is what happened when they took off a couple of bricks to see if there was any way to save the porch...the whole roof started shifting. Just not enough support under there. Boo.

Hi Janel! Guess you made it into the blog today. This is a mostly naked house, waiting for Tyvek.

This is the south side, before it was cleaned up for the Tyvek...that silver rectangle in the bottom right is the faux fireplace.

As if the news about losing the porch (and that little glassed-in foyer, sigh), wasn't bad enough, let's throw in a broken water line! But more about that tomorrow...or later today, if I get around to it.
