Recycled life

We had to rebuild the coop for the baby chicks today. They were escaping. Not a good plan with the ritual killer cat roaming the yard. (I found a beak on the trash can this morning. Yeah. It's like that.) He hasn't gotten any of the chicks yet, but we need to keep those babies safe! And since I'm cheap, I didn't want to go buy anything.
After a couple of hours of putzing around, here's their new place. Not horribly classy, but it's home. And it was free. :)

(Note the climbing handles from the kids' old playscape...)

That's the door from the china cabinet (that is now a bookcase), a dog house that none of our dogs would use, the rest of the climbing wall from the playscape, an old table, an old tabletop, and the cover to our breaker box that finally fell off.

There's also an old window screen and some re-re-re-reused chicken wire involved. I even recycled weeds as their bedding.

The birds are happy. That's what counts. That, and the $0.00 bill for their house. ;)
